Nowadays most servers run on Linux, which will probably only increase in the future with the issues facing our clients, among others. To acquire and develop even more knowledge and experience about Linux, Kroescontrol is looking for an engineer who meets the following qualifications:

      • A professional level of work and thinking.

      • You have demonstrable professional experience as a Linux engineer.

      • Knowledge and experience with multiple Linux distributions such as: CentOS, Ubuntu ServerRedHat

      • Experience with monitoring and automation tools such as: Grafana, Puppet and Ansible

      • You have good soft skills and are able to advise and support management. In addition, you can prepare clear, complete documentation to implement knowledge sharing among other engineers.

      • A Linux engineer performs a command, architect or analytical role for our customers.

      • In general, these are medium-sized companies to multinationals with challenging IT environments.

      • You are responsible for and maintain certain services or servers. Through tooling such as GIT and methods such as DevOps, you work together with others on the optimal performance, usability and security of the infrastructure.

      • Experience in secondment is a plus.

      • Technical experience at least comparable to RHCE or similar (willingness to obtain this).

    Some concrete tasks you will likely encounter are:

        • Install, configure, manage and possibly migrate physical & cloud servers

        • Keep the security of these servers up to date

        • Discover bottlenecks through monitoring and tools such as Grafana

        • Save critical servers and processes at all times

        • Help colleagues with Linux related questions

        • DevOps type work such as:

        • automation (Ansible/Jenkins/ed)

        • configuration management (Puppet/Chef/Ansible)

      Employment conditions:


          • Salary between €4,000 and €6,500 gross per month, depending on your experience.
          • Working from home or from Boutique office in Amsterdam, Rotterdam or Klarenbeek (Arnhem region)

        Security Engineer

        Our Security Engineers have an important task in managing and monitoring the cloud infrastructure at various customers. Who are you? A versatile, creative engineer who always thinks from the interest of the customer and the end result. You can easily get started independently, but also count on a team of experts around you.

        In addition to writing, you are a strong communicator and have a positive attitude. Most importantly? You have an eye for modern security solutions, experience with IT Security and you like to think about the future of zero trust.

        You also have the following at home:

        • HBO or WO work and thinking level
        • Knowledge of network design, virtualization, IT security and network infrastructure or data communication
        • Experience with or certifications from one of the following vendors: F5, Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Cisco, Aruba/HPE, Infoblox, Citrix, Okta or Vasco;
        • Relevant certification of cloud technology and infrastructures (e.g. Amazon AWS and/or Microsoft Azure)

        What does a Watchmen Security Engineer do?

        • Automating software build and test and integration processes
        • Automating deployment, monitoring and IT management processes
        • Developing and implementing monitoring tools and platforms
        • Designing and building Docker/Kubernetes platforms
        • Design and develop deployment environments based on programming languages/environments such as Java, C#, Powershell and Python
        • Automating processes for security and compliance requirements
        • Migrating existing pipelines to cloud-based pipelines
        • Advising on the use of DevOps products and services
